We confess these truths drawn from God’s Word.
We believe the Bible, Old and New Testaments, is the inspired Word of God and the supreme authority for everything we believe and how we live. In its pages God speaks plainly. He shows us who he is, tells the truth about the human heart, and proclaims the good news of Jesus Christ.
We believe in one eternal God, who exists in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. They are equal in essence, distinct in role, and perfectly united in love. God is holy, sovereign, and the source of all life.
We believe Jesus Christ is fully God and fully human. He was born of a virgin, lived without sin, died on the cross as our substitute, and rose bodily on the third day. He now reigns at the Father’s right hand, and he will return in person to judge the living and the dead.
We believe the Holy Spirit lives in every believer. He convicts us of sin, draws us to Christ, seals us as God’s children and makes holiness possible. The Spirit gifts the church for ministry and joins all Christians into one body.
We believe every person is made in the image of God and carries real dignity because of it. We have also, every one of us, turned away from him by our own choosing. Sin separates us from God and leaves us unable to save ourselves. God’s love for sinners is the great theme of Scripture.
We believe salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. When a person turns from sin and trusts Jesus, they are forgiven, born again by the Holy Spirit and adopted into God’s family. Eternal life is a gift. It is never earned.
We believe the church is every person who has personally trusted Christ, worldwide, made visible in local congregations that gather under his lordship. Membership here is for those who have professed Christ and been baptised.
Christ has given his church two visible ordinances. Baptism, by full immersion in water on profession of faith, pictures dying and rising with Christ. Communion, sharing bread and the cup, is how the church remembers Christ’s death “until he comes.”
We look forward to the return of Jesus Christ in person. On that day every wrong will be put right, death will be undone and creation itself made new. Until then the church waits, prays, and keeps telling people about his kingdom.
